essence Sheer & Shine Lipsticks Review and Swatches

*This post contains PR samples.

The essence Sheer & Shine lipsticks offer a smooth, sheer formula with buildable colour. They're very much like a tinted balm. There are 10 available shades with a wide range of colours. Because they are sheer lipsticks, they're all very wearable shades despite what they look like in the tube.

The colours of the lipstick bullets are really deceiving, so swatches are definitely in order!

Like the name implies, these lipsticks are really sheer but offer a nice glossy finish. Some shades contain tiny bits of shimmer, but they're not at all noticeable. These lipsticks feel really comfortable on, but do catch on dry flakes and emphasize them.

There is some variation in how pigmented these lipsticks are. My First Love and Frosted are almost invisible, but Like A Princess was easily the most pigmented out of all of them. In the swatches at the bottom of the post, everything is three swipes to test buildability except for Like A Princess, which was layered twice.

The lipsticks have a sweet, cupcake-y scent that doesn't entirely cover a synthetic, almost plastic scent. While I can't smell it while it's on the lips, the lipsticks do have a bit of a perfume taste to them.

Lastly, these lipsticks don't last very long on the lips. But they're so easy to layer on and so comfortable that I don't mind reapplying every few hours.

My favourites out of them are BFF, Be Happy and Like A Princess. While I'm not normally one for sheer lipsticks (what is the point?), I kind of like how easy these are to wear. For those of you who like a moisturizing lip colour with lots of shine, these are pretty good for a really awesome price.
